Imperial Classics are excited to offer what is surely the most elegant gentleman’s express ever produced.  The Mercedes-Benz W111 Coupe.  This is a two owner, UK supplied 1966 car.  The first owner being Peter Clay, an actor from the 1960’s show ‘The Avengers’ who sold the car to his friend and director of the original BBC Poldark series, Kenneth Ives in 1980.  The car was used by the previous owners mainly on continental road trips and was maintained fastidiously to ensure reliability on these trips.

During the past 10 years the vehicle has been used less and less and we have just finished a light recommissioning.   We believe the mileage to be around 124,000 miles, equating to some 2,000 miles per year.  In excellent condition, this exquisite car offers an opportunity to own one of the very finest cars ever produced by Mercedes.  There are believed to be around 15 original UK 250SE Coupes left in existence.

It is testament to the level of engineering that was put into the manufacture of the W111 series that this matching numbers car drives and performs in such a way as to inspire confidence and offer a smooth relaxing ride 52 years on.  All mechanical systems have been checked, serviced and replaced as necessary.  The drive is effortless, engine, automatic gearbox and brakes all working smoothly and effectively.  Five new whitewall tyres have just been fitted.  There is no corrosion anywhere and a new exhaust system has just been fitted.  This is a car that has been in use throughout most of it’s 52 years and has never fallen into disrepair, a true survivor car.

The beautiful Silver Grey (180) paintwork is of the highest quality and in superb  order.  The car looks breathtakingly beautiful from every angle and has a depth of colour that ranges from pearl grey to a hint of blue/green and is truly stunning.  The chrome brightwork is all excellent with many pieces having recently been rechromed or renewed.  The original chrome hub caps and beauty rings are still in place, so often missing and replaced with the later one piece design.

The black leather interior has recently been renewed with the very highest quality german leather from original sources made to the exact original pattern.  The glorious zebrano dash and centre console have both been relacquered and are perfect.  A new german manufactured carpet set completes the interior in the original anthracite colour.  The original Motorola 727T radio is still in place.  All instruments and the original clock are in perfect working order.

The car is supplied with the original owners handbook, original parts catalogue, toolkit and Bilstein jack.

A truly exceptional motor car.
